Congress directs Pentagon to press Saudi Arabia on Yemen refueling bill

Congress wants the Pentagon to hold the Saudi-led coalition accountable for paying off the last of its overdue refueling bills for the Yemen war.

The Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act, released today, calls on Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan to notify Congress each month of any outstanding bills for the $299 million cost of the three-year refueling mission until the federal government is repaid in full.

The Pentagon refueled warplanes for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates starting in March 2015. The assistance ended in November 2018, when both sides agreed to terminate the mission as Congress pressed to end US support for the Yemen campaign.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the US Congress, a word, please: yes, I understand that Uncle Sam is now having to play "collection agency" on Saudi Arabia's past-due bills.

But Ladies and Gentlemen of the House and Senate; the core question which must be asked, and answered by you is, what the hell, please, is the US military still doing in Yemen, aiding an abetting Saudi war crimes here?!?

Just because it is an industrial strength "taboo subject" (which the presstitutes ignore, as though it were Kryptonite), doesn't mean that it doesn't at some level, reach a collective sense that things are going very, very badly for the Saudis and the Americans.

Saudi crown prince calls for a 'decisive stand' against Iran as he blames regime for attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman says his kingdom does not want war
But he 'will not hesitate to deal with threats to its people, its sovereignty or its vital interests', according to comments published by Saudi-owned newspaper.

The US have also claimed Iranians fired a missile at a US drone in the area hours before the attack but missed, an official told CNN.

The tankers were attacked in strikes south of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route and major transit route for oil.

'The kingdom does not want a war in the region but it will not hesitate to deal with any threats to its people, its sovereignty, or its vital interests,' he added.

Tehran and Washington have both said they have no interest in war - but this has done little to assuage concerns the arch foes could stumble in to conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, coming from the Butcher of Yemen, (Prince Mohammed bin Salman), I hope this statement has calmed down those in the independent media, that they are in "no harm" from possibly having published an opinion about the incident which "did not carry water for either Washington's or Saudi Arabia's accusations".

And that pathetic little black and white, grainy image, allegedly showing an Iranian military personnel, pulling off the limpet mine from the ship?!?

HIGH SCHOOL folks; HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!

A clever middle-school kid with the right suite of software on their computer, could have pulled this off with ease.

But to both President Trump and Prince bin Salman, there is a question which, logically, must be both asked, and answered; why would the Iranian leadership attempt to do something so ham-fistedly, pig-headedly idiotic, when they understand that there are elements in both the American and Israeli governments are SALIVATING to find a "justification" for attacking it?!?

The short answer is, HELL, no!!

And gentlemen, another comment: the Iranian leadership may be many things; but one thing it is not, is stupid; and I also believe that they love their kids, just as much as Americans and Israelis love their children also.

War, here, is completely unjustifiable, and morally wrong.

More Than 500 Torture Cases Documented By UN In Ukraine Conflict

KYIV -- The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has documented more than 500 cases of ill-treatment, incommunicado detention, and torture by both Ukrainian government forces and Russia-backed separatists since the conflict erupted in April 2014, the mission’s head said in Kyiv on June 13.

“We believe, however, that this is the tip of the iceberg, as torture is a systemic issue in Ukraine that was exacerbated by the armed conflict,” Fiona Frazer told reporters at a press conference where she presented a new UN report.

In many instances, Frazer said, “the alleged perpetrators are the state security services and the so-called ‘ministries of state security’ of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, I know you are "juggling a zillion chain saws" right now, as we say in our colloquial English, meaning, you are dealing with a number of crises in Ukraine, and trying to triage them at this moment.

But please, as a human being first, and secondly, as a Ukrainian Jew, who understands the horrific depths of ,"faith based" lethal behaviour inflicted on your ancestors, you have to try to get this madness to stop.

I would like to commend to you a little historical study, about the German Nazi in World War II, who refused to torture his English-speaking prisoners of war. The man's name was Hanns-Joachim Gottlob Scharff.

Wikipedia: Hans Scharff

Between both World wars, Scharff studied English, and had a magnificent grasp of the language.

But rather than use the torture techniques well-known - and used - by the Nazi SS upon their prisoners, Scharff used only kindness, even inviting them out for day passes at cultural events. He was able to convince these prisoners that he already knew everything about them, and their operations, when he really didn't, and was a superb interrogator.

When the war concluded, the US military brass was so completely taken by him, that they invited him to give seminars about how his technique worked.

Because, Mr. President, torture...only gets the tortured person to say whatever his torturers want him to say, to get the torture to stop, even if the information is completely, and horribly, wrong.

So, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, I - and other thinking Americans - wish (and pray) you "God Speed" on this very tough set of situations you confront, in this "tightrope" walk between Russian, and Western, interests.

And may its resolution come about in a way that is good for all Ukrainians.

‘Assange extradition should be warning to liberals who believe in American democracy’ – Zizek

The UK’s decision to extradite WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange to the US should be taken as a warning to all liberals who still have any faith in ‘American liberal democracy,’ says cultural philosopher Slavoj Zizek.

The Slovenian sociologist told RT that signing of the extradition order is just one of two recent events that really worry him. The other “ominous” event was the Ecuadorian government’s invitation to US authorities to take possession of Assange’s property from its London embassy when he was taken to prison, including book manuscripts, computers and other personal possessions.

“The nightmare is that the accuser was directly invited to take possession of all these documents. This breaks even the elementary the norms of legality,” Zizek explained.

‘This is about shutting down dissent’ – John Pilger on Assange US extradition case

The attempt to extradite WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange from the UK to the US is not only about locking up the Australian, but about “shutting down dissent” and “investigative journalism,” claims journalist John Pilger.

Speaking outside Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Friday following the decision to open a new, full US extradition hearing in February 2020, Pilger insisted that the motivation of the American authorities in pursuing Assange was clear to see.

... [It] is quite clear that on a wider level this is an attempt to shut down WikiLeaks and put Assange away, but it’s also about shutting down dissent. It’s mainly about shutting down investigative journalism.

‘Treason!’ Trump slams NYT claim of US cyberattacks on Russia’s power grid as harmful fake news

Following a bombastic report that US government hackers are targeting Russia’s power grid, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to accuse the NY Times of spreading fake news detrimental to US credibility and national security.
“This is a virtual act of Treason by a once great paper so desperate for a story, any story, even if bad for our Country…” Trump tweeted on Saturday evening, before realizing that he forgot to actually dismiss the report of Washington increasingly targeting Moscow in a cyber-warfare campaign as “fake news.”

“.....ALSO, NOT TRUE!” he added in a follow-up tweet, without specifying whether the report was untrue in its entirety – or just the specifics like the targets of US cyber-offenses or their gravity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, here is the article in question:

US Escalates attacks on Russia's Power Grid<

David E. Sanger and Nicole Perlroth

the article goes on to state: "In interviews over the past three months, the officials described the previously unreported deployment of American computer code inside Russia’s grid and other targets as a classified companion to more publicly discussed action directed at Moscow’s disinformation and hacking units around the 2018 midterm elections."

Hey, Dave and Nicky, a word, please: the "loosey-goosey", non-validated, unattributed statements in your article, tell the public absolutely nothing about this situation; it is all inference, and totally unsubstantiated, which of course, your bosses at NYT, are encouraging you to continue slinging, like some non-descript, day's old hash, at your readers.

The attempted character assassinations by NYT against Trump, never end:

Why Trump Reigns as King Cyrus

A Drama of Trump’s Own Making Ends With a Familiar Hero

How to Defeat Trump in 2020

Excerpts From Trump’s Interview With The New York Times

5 Key Takeaways From Donald Trump's New York Times Interview

So let me give it to you straight: I am utterly no "Trumpophile", and if you had actually bothered to read any legitimate independent news resources, you would understand my concerns.

The US Military is now at the keening edge of engaging in potential military misadventures against Russia; China; and Iran.

I don't know about you two, but what I am seeing, and President Trump is merely a figurehead in this process, are all the symptoms of the American empire in decline, which can conjure no other way to resolve its geopolitical differences, other than through wars.

Having been "acquired" by Sheldon Adelson, through his massive campaign contributions to Trump's elections Trump has now outsourced US foreign policy in the Middle East to its former Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu Adelson, Who Donated Over $100 Million to the GOP, 'Watching' Results With Trump. In September, the Jewish billionaire Adelson couple pumped $32 million into the GOP

How this has translated into hard US foreign policy in the Middle East, is as follows:

US stops all aid to Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza

Trump Administration about to give Israel $3.8 billion dollars

US Withdraws from the joint comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran

President Trump will keep 400 troops in Syria

And now, fast-forwarding to current events:

President Trump blames Iran for current acts of terrorism in the Gulf of Oman

Iran slams US, calls claim of tanker attack "economic terrorism"

The pattern is very simple here; find a country with resources, which allows for those resources to be paid for other than US dollars; destabilize that country; regime-change, to make sure that the leadership remains US-centric; expropriate those resources to which the US has utterly no moral right; and insist on that country's only selling those resources... in US dollars.

Wash... rinse.... repeat.

I don't know what the Vegas odds are, concerning the resurrection of the draft in this country, but right now, I wouldn't bet against it.

Here are some interesting numbers about US military deployment:

2-2019: US military deployments

And even if these military deployments have been an epic fail, in terms of their stated objectives, and what has actually happened in these countries, the US is most likely, never leaving, as leaving, from the perspective of our military leadership, would suggest that the mission had been a "failure".

This... is why the US government's military is still in Afghanistan; Iraq; Yemen; Syria; Libya; the Congo; and Somalia.

And just to make sure you do both do not have a raging episode of "selective memory disorder" on this issue (SMD), let me gently remind you, that the President who got American troops enmeshed in Yemen, where they are continuing to aid and abet Saudi forces in their war crimes: Yes, Mr. Cool President Himself, Barak Hussein Obama!

As War on Yemen Hits the 4-Year Mark.
Here’s a Brief History of U.S. Involvement
(As the political tide in the United States finally turns against the war, we must not let its U.S. proponents whitewash their wrongdoing).

The image above the article is captioned: President Barack Obama speaks as King Salman bin Abd alAziz of Saudi Arabia looks on during a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office of the White House September 4, 2015 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Olivier Douliery-Pool/Getty Images) Notice how studiously each is avoiding looking at the other.

So in summation, gentlemen; President Trump can be defeated in 2020; so can we please, possibly let us stick to the facts in doing so, shall we?!?

Because there are plenty enough facts to condemn what he has done, both nationally, and internationally, in what I call "the real world".

And as to The Democrat's "Great Hope" in 2020?!?

Would one - or both of you - please think about doing an article on our Hawaiian Representative, now Presidential Candidate, Tulsi Gabbard, that isn't a "hit piece", because the US's military/industrial complex isn't going to like this woman one bit.

She's a Samoan- American Vet, who has seen combat, in Iraq; she's a very articulate, and level-headed woman, and will be infinitely less careless about throwing "US troops at geopolitical problems on the ground" than have been the previous two administrations.

You're welcome.

HONG KONG THRONG: PROTESTERS WANT LEADER LAM TO QUIT

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM

Hong Kong - Hundreds of thousands of protesters have marched on Sunday in opposition to the government and a controversial bill, despite the city's leader, Carrie Lam, shelving the proposal indefinitely a day earlier.

Crowds filled Hong Kong's Victoria Park early on Sunday afternoon, filing into orderly zones to wait for their turn to embark on an almost four-kilometre route to Admiralty, a downtown business district.

Protesters were largely frustrated with the way the government and Lam, the chief executive, had handled the bill.

Lam has promised to widely consult the public about the bill before making any attempt to resurrect it

Webmaster's Commentary:

The citizens of Hong Kong, understand their history, as well as the history of mainland China.

Were I the organisers of such a protest, I might want to be very careful, about how protesters approach these "demands".

Lam is obviously an agent of Beijing here, and I would politely suggest to the protesters, that the Chinese government will put these demonstrations down in a heartbeat, if the tempo of these protests...accelerates too quickly.

YEMEN’S HOUTHIS TARGET TWO SAUDI AIRPORTS WITH MULTIPLE DRONE ATTACKS

OURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
Yemen’s Houthi movement launched fresh drone attacks targeting Jizan and Abha airports in southern Saudi Arabia, the group’s Al-Masirah TV said on Saturday, adding the installations were out of service, Reuters reports.

The Saudi-led coalition said in a statement that it had intercepted and downed a Houthi drone targeting the southwestern city of Abha.

The Iran-aligned group said multiple drone strike targeted control rooms at Jizan airport and a fuel station at Abha airport.

“The two airports are now out of service. We promise the Saudi regime more painful days as long as the aggression and siege continue on our country,” the group’s armed forces spokesman said in a tweet published by Al-Masirah TV’s account.

The Houthis have launched several strikes targeting Abha airport since Wednesday, when a missile attack against the same airport wounded 26 people.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Saudis will be sure retaliate, taking as many civilian lives as they possibly can.

It breaks my heart, both to see so many Yemeni non-combatants killed, and the absolutely pathological "tin ear" represented by the Saudi Royal Family, and particularly the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, when almost every expert in the history - and potential future - of Yemen, state, emphatically, that peace can only be created through negotiation, rather than continued bloodshed.

And, of course, there is that "other issue" which none of DC's Foggy Bottomites" want to discuss, ever; and that his how the US government and military are enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen. And before these articles get chopped, and their authors get deplatformed, and demonetized, please google the following:

"The US government and military are enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen."

I stand amazed that Google's current CEO, Sundar Pichai, has not pulled these web searches.

But don't be surprised if you find them pulled soon.

THE UNHOLY ALLIANCE BETWEEN DNA SITES AND FACIAL RECOGNITION

SOURCE: THEORGANICPREPPER.COM

BY DAGNY TAGGART

Technology that was once only seen in dystopian science fiction is rapidly infecting real life. Two means of collecting personal data – DNA databases and facial recognition software – are forming an unholy alliance, and the privacy implications could be devastating.

Privacy concerns surrounding DNA and facial recognition aren’t anything new. As the popularity of DNA genealogy websites like Ancestry DNA and 23andMe increase, so do questions over who has access to that data and how it will be used. The use of facial recognition and other biometric data technology is on the rise, and people are expressing concerns (and outrage) about that technology as well.

Genealogy sites have been making the news of late, mainly for concerns over how our personal data is used – and who has access to that information.

ENGINEERS ARE FIGURING OUT HOW TO MATCH DNA TO FACES IN A DATABASE.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Humankind is, swiftly, falling down into the " digital rabbit hole", where any dystopian government can use this kind of information to tar an innocent person, make it appear that they were at a crime scene, and did the crime, to shut them up, and shut them off, if their narrative or questions did not meet the precise narrative of that government.

This... is truly chilling.

MASSIVE POWER CUT HITS ALL OF ARGENTINA

SOURCE: BBC.COM
A massive electrical failure has left all of Argentina and Uruguay without power, according to a major Argentine electricity provider.

Reports said the power cut had also affected parts of Brazil and Paraguay.

Argentine media said the power cut occurred shortly after 07:00 (12:00 GMT), causing trains to be halted and failures with traffic signalling.

It came as people in parts of Argentina were preparing to go to the polls for local elections.

"A massive failure in the electrical interconnection system left all of Argentina and Uruguay without power," electricity supplier company Edesur said in a tweet.

The combined population of Argentina and Uruguay is about 48 million people.

Among the affected provinces in Argentina were Santa Fe, San Luis, Formosa, La Rioja, Chubut, Cordoba and Mendoza, reports said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just a fluke in the electrical system, in light of the fact that Argentina does use electronic voting machines, and elections were to have started today?

Chris Hedges: No future for our grandchildren unless we ‘overthrow corporate power’

Appearing on George Galloway’s political talk show ‘Sputnik’, Hedges decried how the “psychopaths” who run the world’s largest multinational corporations are “hurling us all over a cliff” in the pursuit of “short-term profit.”

We’re going to talk about the destruction of the ecosystem that sustains life. And [that’s] what is happening in the hands of the oligarchic elites in the fossil fuel industry – and let’s not forget the defense industry, the largest emitter of greenhouse gasses is the US military.

'Not Enough': US Version Blaming Iran for Tanker Attacks Questioned by European Allies

The Pentagon earlier released a video, claiming to show an Iranian patrol boat removing a mine from the side one of the tankers targeted in the Gulf of Oman as "proof" of the US accusations that Tehran is behind the attacks. The Islamic Republic has strongly denied its involvement and urged Washington to stop false flag ops in the region.

Some European governments have refused to back the US allegations that Iran was responsible for the attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on 13 June.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has, for instance, insisted that the footage made public by the US Central Command allegedly showing Iranian sailors removing an unexploded mine from one of the vessels' hull was insufficient to corroborate Washington's claims.

"The video is not enough. We can understand what is being shown, sure, but to make a final assessment, this is not enough for me", Maas told reporters on Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am at least somewhat hopeful, that our European allies would not believe the codswallop the US government was trying to sell them, on this painfully obvious "false flag."

Assange will never see fair trial amid ‘industrial-grade demonization campaign’ – Max Blumenthal

The persecution of Julian Assange, aided and abetted by the silence of the US media, is a “warning shot” to journalists who are openly critical of the US national security state, journalist Max Blumenthal tells RT.

Is The US Preparing For War With Russia?

Authored by Leonid Salvin via Oriental Review,

The RAND Corporation recently published a document entitled Overextending and Unbalancing Russia. Assessing the Impact of Cost-Imposing Options. The study is the collective effort of experienced diplomats, including former Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and US Ambassador to the European Union James Dobbins; a professor (Brookings Institution, American Enterprise Institute, National Defence University) and military intelligence branched lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, Raphael Cohen; and seven other RAND researchers who specialise in international relations, the military industry, intelligence, politics, and technology.

It is a practical recommendation for how the US can use Russia’s weakness and vulnerability to further limit its political and economic potential.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but since this seems to be a "public white paper, are the Russians not also reading it, to see what countermeasures they may pursue against the US as well?!?

F-35 Hit With Cluster Bomb Of Damning Reports As Pentagon Eyes Full Rate Production

Less than 48 hours after Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon reached a handshake agreement on the purchase of a whopping 480 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, an absolute cluster bomb of stories has dropped detailing significant technical issues with the jets.

Beyond Blaming Iran, Trump and Aides Divided on Next Step: Trump continues to say he wants diplomacy, not war

Given nothing more than a grainy video that doesn’t show much of anything, and a couple of tankers burning at sea, the Trump Administration has proven themselves united in a way rarely seen, declaring Iran wholly and directly to blame.

That’s where the unity appears to end, however. Officials are always keen to blame Iran for anything that might stick, and as for what to do after that, they all seem deeply divided, and their talking points vary wildly.

President Trump was quick to blame Iran, citing the dubious Centcom video as proof, and declaring that they are “in deep, deep trouble.” Beyond that, however, he reiterated that he wants to negotiate with Iran, and that he’s “in no rush” to actually have the talks. He also continues to say he’s not interested in a war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are two companion pieces, also appearing at antiwar.com today, and they are:

US SecDef wants to focus on building global consensus against Iran after tanker attacks

and MIKE POMPEO SAID CONGRESS DOESN’T NEED TO APPROVE WAR WITH IRAN. 2020

It would seem, to an impartial observer, that both men are working just as hard as they can for Israel, to insure that the Israeli-desired US/Iranian war happens right on cue, to give Netanyahu the best possible "lift", in advance of the snap Israeli elections in September.

So, I have a question: why have both men not registered as "foreign agents", in service to Israel?!?

Because right now, I would politely suggest that their goals and objectives, have absolutely nothing to do with the welfare of the American people, but everything to do with the sustaining of the current geopolitical power structure in Tel Aviv. That is just the reality.

And please remember, unlike the image of "Poor Little Israel" in which many American and Israeli politicians, like to frame Israel's current military capabilities,as though this country was completely and utterly incapable of taking care of themselves, this country is bristling with nuclear arms, and other weapons, courtesy of, you guessed it, the American Taxpayer!!!

And because Israel refuses to sign the NNPT (which Iran has, BTW), and allow their nuclear weapons to be inspected, they are, theoretically forbidden to get any weapons or money from the US under the Symington Amendment; but, of course, with Israel, is always that "special arrangement", which allows our politicians to break the law with impunity, and give it an embarrassment of riches, in terms of money, and new weapons.

So to sum up, Secretary of State Pompeo, and Presidential Advisor Bolton, if Israel believes Iran to be an "existential threat", let Israel take care of it militarily, because they can.

This is absolutely not our fight.

And should the US decide to fight Iran, what is to prevent Russia from stepping into the fray on Iran's side, seeing how well they have done in Syria, getting rid of the US trained/funded jihadis?!?

Gentlemen, right now, the US military doesn't have the weaponry; the funding; the troop strength; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to any war against either Russia or Iran.

Oh, and BTW: when have you decided to bring back the draft?!? Just checking, gentlemen, just checking.

CHINESE COMPANY MAKING F-35 PARTS?! EMBARRASSING ‘DISCOVERY’ FURTHER ERODES ‘HUAWEI SPYING’ HYSTERIA

SOURCE: RT
After a Chinese company was found manufacturing circuit boards for the F-35 jet, the UK Ministry of Defense insisted there is nothing to worry about, rendering the fuss over omnipresent Beijing spies increasingly silly.
Exception PCB, a Chinese-owned company based in Gloucestershire, England, manufactures the circuit boards that control the engines, lighting, fuel and navigation systems of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the most expensive weapons system ever made. While the UK’s Ministry of Defense insists the company is an established supplier to the defense industry and presents “no risk,” months of flogging the China-spying narrative have done their job, and UK media and politicians are up in arms over this “shocking revelation.”

CNN'S CAMEROTA: 'IT'S OUR JOB' TO TEACH VIEWERS TO 'SHUT DOWN' CONSERVATIVE ARGUMENTS

SOURCE: NEWS BUSTERS
By Joseph Chalfant

On Friday's New Day, coverage again returned to a recent ABC News interview in which President Trump expressed a willingness to accept foreign information about political opponents. A panel of guests gathered around to spew their takes on the situation, with host Alisyn Camerota livid at Fox News and Republicans for pointing out that the Clinton campaign received dirt on Trump from Russia in 2016.

Camerota was blind to the correlation between the DNC-funded Steele dossier and the situation Trump described during his interview. Christopher Steele, a former British spy, was employed by Fusion GPS to obtain information on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. Steele used Russian sources to gather this information. The fact that it’s a crime for a foreign national to provide information of “value” to a candidate to influence an election is a violation of federal law was lost on the host:

Webmaster's Commentary:

You have just got to love the irony here, when the DNC did precisely the criminal act, of ordering, and paying for the Steele dossier, when it had absolutely zero relationship with reality!!

OK, Alisyn; Auntie Claire here, and I will deliver this in a bite-sized, pre-digested sound byte, so that it might be possible to get your head around it: what the Democrats did was not only illegal, but was a perfectly, howlingly immoral attempt to smear Candidate Trump with this dirt, which never, really, existed in fact.

I would hope that President Trump will look past this nastiness, and go on about the business for which US voters hired him.

But I would take this another step further, and suggest, that this is a place where his 2020 campaign should go, either.

And in closing, I will politely suggest to you that "fact free" is NOT the "new normal" for your viewers; why in Heaven's name, do you believe that thinking viewers are turning the corporate presstitutes off in record numbers, and coming to the independent media instead?!?

Just asking.......:-)

HONG KONG SUSPENDS CONTROVERSIAL EXTRADITION BILL AFTER BACKLASH

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam said there were 'inadequacies' in the bill [Kin Cheung/AP]
Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam has announced that a debate on a controversial extradition bill will be suspended, after hundreds of thousands of people in the territory protested against it.

"There were indeed inadequacies, the bill has caused a lot of division in society," Lam said on Saturday. She said there were supporters on both sides of the debate over the legislation.

The extradition bill would allow Hong Kong's chief executive to send suspected offenders to places with which the territory has no formal extradition agreement for trial.

It would apply to Hong Kong residents and foreign and Chinese nationals living or travelling in the city to be sent to mainland China and has many concerned it may threaten the rule of law that underpins Hong Kong's international financial status.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am very grateful that China backed off of this bill; if China's leadership thought Tia-man Square was tough to suppress, they have absolutely zero understanding of how, had this legislation been passed, the people in Hong Kong, would have reacted.

5,200 people in ICE custody quarantined for exposure to mumps or chicken pox

Overcrowded border facilities

DHS officials have said the sheer volume of people coming across the border is overwhelming facilities. McAleenan told lawmakers this week that the increasing number of migrants has hurt the morale of border officials and exposed them to sicknesses.
"Their morale is impacted. They're tired. A lot of them have gotten sick. They've been exposed to flu, chicken pox, measles, mumps -- all kinds of challenges in terms of the medical care," McAleenan said. "They're spending time overnight in hospitals instead of patrolling the border."
Late last month, the Department of Homeland Security inspector general released a report detailing some of the issues facing border patrol facilities amid the swell of migrant arrivals.
In particular, the IG found "dangerous overcrowding" and unsanitary conditions at an El Paso, Texas, Border Patrol processing facility following an unannounced inspection, according to a new report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder, if this is part of a deliberate plan,to flood the country with diseased illegal aliens, so that the chain of command at ICE, has no other alternative but letting them in, and taking care of them when they surrender themselves.

In April 2018, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg sat before members of both houses of Congress and told them his company respected the privacy of the roughly two billion people who use it. “Privacy” remained largely undefined throughout Zuckerberg’s televised flagellations, but he mentioned the concept more than two dozen times, including when he told the Senate’s Judiciary and Commerce committees, “We have a broader responsibility to protect people’s privacy even beyond” a consent decree from federal privacy regulators, and when he told the House Energy and Commerce Committee, “We believe that everyone around the world deserves good privacy controls.” A year later, Zuckerberg claimed in interviews and essays to have discovered the religion of personal privacy and vowed to rebuild the company in its image.

US GOV NARRATIVE BLAMING IRAN FOR OIL TANKER ATTACKS FALLS APART IN HOURS

OURCE: THE GRAYZONE
The Trump administration’s claims Iran attacked oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman were quickly debunked, with the ship’s crew saying it “was hit by a flying object.” But the US disrupted important Iranian diplomatic efforts at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
BY BEN NORTON
The Donald Trump administration’s evidence-less accusations against Iran have fallen apart within a matter hours.

But these US allegations did manage to disrupt an important meeting of Asian leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, where Tehran was hoping to make diplomatic breakthroughs to ease a crippling American economic blockade.

On Thursday, June 13, two oil tankers traveling through the Gulf of Oman on their way to Japan suffered from mysterious explosions. The cause of the incident was not clear.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Violent acts like this, do not happen for only one reason, like stunting Iran's chances for anything to come out the the conference at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; the US and Israel thought such charges would be a slam-dunk, and off the American people could be lied into yet another war, with absolute stupidity, as to how the US got there.

But the Vampire-like "Kill Iran" monster, created courtesy of the US and Israel, is not dead, but only sleeping for awhile.

As hard as FAUX News was pushing this yesterday, when you would get segments about this both at the top and bottom of the hour, it was painfully obvious, that the US government was going to see if this "trial balloon", would actually work with those polled, or was going to die an untimely death. It looks as though the overnights, may have put the issue of a potential war with Iran, on a back burner, at least for this second.

But we all have to stay awake, and alert; Netanyahu is in deep kim chee at home, for not being able to form a coalition, which led to the dissolution of the Knesset, to followed by a snap election in September.

We're half-way through June right now, and give or take, 90 days from that election.

If Netanyahu really wants to look "butch" for his constituents, he is going to have to find a way to create a false flag the US government doesn't see coming, to get the US to respond militarily before the elections, to give him "gravitas", at being able to lie the leader of the free world into yet another senseless, thoroughly avoidable, stupid war.

RUSSIA TO BAN VPN PROVIDERS THAT REFUSE TO AID CENSORSHIP

SOURCE: TECH DIRT
Back in 2016 Russia introduced a new surveillance bill promising to deliver greater security to the country. Of course, as with so many similar efforts around the world the bill actually did the exact opposite -- not only mandating new encryption backdoors, but also imposing harsh new data-retention requirements on ISPs and VPN providers. As a result, some VPN providers like Private Internet Access wound up leaving the country after finding their entire function eroded and having some of their servers seized.
Last March Russia upped the ante, demanding that VPN providers like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, IPVanish, and HideMyAss help block forbidden websites that have been added to Russia's censorship watchlist. Not surprisingly those companies balked at the request, and now Russia's moving on to what was the goal from the start: banning these companies from doing business entirely.

PROSECUTORS DISMISS ALL CHARGES IN FLINT WATER SCANDAL, PROBE TO START OVER

SOURCE: RT
Michigan’s attorney general has dropped all pending criminal charges related to the Flint water contamination crisis, opting to restart the investigation. No official has been held accountable for the scandal to date.
The office of Michigan AG Dana Nessel on Thursday dismissed charges filed by the previous state administration against eight individuals in connection to the crisis. The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning the state can reindict the same individuals in the future.

Flint suffered a major public utilities crisis between 2014 and 2015, when the city administration catastrophically botched a project to swap Flint’s municipal water source. The project, designed to cut costs for the nearly-bankrupt city, resulted in massive lead contamination that risked poisoning thousands of residents.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF there is a Statute of Limitations concerning charges which have been brought, it is very possible that the original state actors, who made these horrific choices about water for Flint, the originally charged perps, could potentially walk, scott-free.

AMERICA’S LEGACY OF REGIME CHANGE

When the United States joined the race for empire at the end of the 19th century, that was the tactic it used. It sent a large expeditionary force to the Philippines to crush an independence movement, ultimately killing some 200,000 Filipinos. At the other end of the carnage spectrum, it seized Guam without the loss of a single life and Puerto Rico with few casualties. Every time, though, U.S. victory was the result of superior military power. In the few cases when the United States failed, as in its attempt to defend a client regime by suppressing Augusto Cesar Sandino’s nationalist rebellion in Nicaragua during the 1920s and 30s, the failure was also the product of military confrontation. For the United States, as for all warlike nations, military power has traditionally been the decisive factor determining whether it wins or loses its campaigns to capture or subdue other countries. World War II was the climax of that bloody history.

3M STUDY FOUND PFAS IN FOOD NEARLY 20 YEARS AGO

SOURCE: EWG.ORG
WASHINGTON – Laboratory tests conducted nearly 20 years ago that have gone largely unreported found high levels of the toxic fluorinated chemical known as PFAS a number of popular supermarket foods.

The tests were commissioned by 3M, the giant chemical company that first manufactured the two most notorious members of the PFAS family, PFOS and PFOA. Last year, 3M paid $850 million to settle a lawsuit brought by the state of Minnesota that showed the company knew for decades about the health hazards of PFAS but hid that information from the public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The "only way" of getting rid of them in your diet, is making as sure as you can, that they were never there in the first place, and make as sure as you can, that the food you and your family are eating is organic.

EU and Russia Reportedly Agree to Ditch Greenback in Bilateral Transactions

The decision comes a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the US dollar as a tool of pressure while speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Maros Sefcovic, vice-president of the European Commission for the Energy Union, have agreed to set up a working group that will deal with a transition to using the rouble and euro in bilateral payments, Russian media outlets reported, citing Siluanov’s spokesman, Andrei Lavrov.

Both sides have reportedly emphasised that the use of national currencies will be mutually beneficial, as it reduces certain risks for entrepreneurs in Russia and the EU.

F-35 Program Is "F***ed Up", Puts American Pilots In Severe Dogfight Disadvantage

Two of the three versions of Lockheed's beleaguered F-35 fighter jet suffer from previously unreported problems that could put the Joint Strike Fighter at a serious disadvantage in a dogfight with an adversary, according to documents obtained by Defense News.

If left unresolved, the following 'category 1' glitches will be icing on the cake of Lockheed's $400 billion quagmire (partial list via Defense News);

When the F-35B vertically lands on very hot days, older engines may be unable to produce the required thrust to keep the jet airborne, resulting in a hard landing.
After doing certain maneuvers, F-35B and F-35C pilots are not always able to completely control the aircraft’s pitch, roll and yaw.
Supersonic flight in excess of Mach 1.2 can cause structural damage and blistering to the stealth coating of the F-35B and F-35C.
Cabin pressure spikes in the cockpit of the F-35 have been known to cause barotrauma, the word given to extreme ear and sinus pain.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This makes absolutely zero sense, and why the Pentagon is putting up with these failures... is beyond me, completely.

The only explanation I can find, is that of the fact that Lockheed-Martin is a huge campaign contributor to both sides of the aisle, so its executive board believes that it can create fighter jets with multiple strings of interlocking problems, and it doesn't have to raise a finger to fix these issues.

As most of you know who frequent this blog, I absolutely abhor war, as the only way for the US government to resolve its geopolitical differences with other countries; but that being said, when war happens, I believe that all who wear an American uniform, should be given the best this country has to create in terms of weaponry.

And right now, that just isn't happening. Russia and China are far beyond what the US can produce, in terms of weaponry capability and reach.

So please, engineers at Lockheed Martin; fix this; your country needs you to be making the best in terms of our weaponry you can create.

School's Purpose Is Indoctrination

Authored by Sofia Carbone, via HumanEvents.com,

The near sole purpose of present-day academia is indoctrination. This is a fairly bold thesis, but the evidence is in its favor.

The increasingly progressive leftist agenda is sweeping through academia and conservatives are passively watching it happen.

The left is genius when you think about it.

Progressives have run academia so far into the ground that students accumulate massive amounts of debt and cannot find work. They then tell the economically struggling students and graduates they are victims of the cruel system of capitalism. In reality, they are victims of the cruel system of academia the left created. They use this economic duress to pitch the debt-ridden students promises of economic equality in the form of socialism.

The left just leaves out the part where the ‘economic equality’ promised means equal poverty.

From Dollar Hegemony To Global Warming: Globalization, Glyphosate, And Doctrines Of Consent

Authored by Colin Todhunter via Counterpunch.org,

There has been an on-going tectonic shift in the West since the abandonment of the Bretton Woods agreement in 1971. This accelerated when the USSR ended and has resulted in the ‘neoliberal globalization’ we see today.

In the report, Rancourt references Michael Hudson’s 1972 book ‘Super Imperialism: The Economic Strategy of American Empire’ to help explain the key role of maintaining dollar hegemony and the importance of the petrodollar to US global dominance. Aside from the significance of oil, Rancourt argues that the US has an existential interest to ensure that opioid drugs are traded in US dollars, another major global commodity. This explains the US occupation of Afghanistan. He also pinpoints the importance of US agribusiness and the arms industry in helping to secure US geostrategic goals.

After senior American senators introduced legislation on Thursday requiring that the US president to protect Americans from the effects of the proposed Hong Kong extradition law, sanction individuals responsible for abducting booksellers, journalists and activists, senior Chinese officials on Friday were predictably less than thrilled, as well as requiring the State Department to re-certify Hong Kong's sovereignty every year to maintain its special trading relationship with the US.

And while more Hong Kong officials urged the government to 'pause' the process for passing the extradition bill, senior Chinese officials have reportedly summoned officials from the US embassy in Beijing to issue a stern warning to Washington not to interfere in the situation in Hong Kong

Dire Straits Of Hormuz

Iran is suffocating under US sanctions, a known instigator of such actions via proxies, and threatening the EU with walking away from the nuclear deal if they won’t help it out. An attack like this would be incredibly reckless…unless they are desperate enough to up the ante to see if a war-averse White House will press ahead with another ruinous Middle East conflict ahead of the 2020 elections and in the face of a Cold War with China. If that is the case then expect more provocations and more Risk Off even as Iran calls this all “beyond suspicious”, “economic terrorism”, and “sabotage diplomacy”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's Netanyahu had to disband the Knesset after the last election, because he couldn't create a coalition of parties which worked, and next snap elections will come in September of this year.

With the corruption trials looming ahead of him, coupled with his failure to hold the Knesset together, Netanyahu is now a geopolitically wounded candidate; and and political candidates are at their most reckless when they are wounded by a series of events, as he has been.

My hunch, is that Israel is looking at creating some huge false flag, to be blamed on Iran, and will absolutely dwarf the harm caused by the other bombings we have seen so far in the Gulf of Hormuz.

Netanyahu is feeling the pressure of time, so in working backward from the next Israeli election, he is going to attempt to time this false flag when it will do the most good for his candidacy; but that is still very hard to determine.

With the US showing a grainy video of an alleged Iranian attempting to get non-working mine off the bottom of a ship, regurgitated by the talking heads at very close to the top of the hour, I am thinking that Netanyahu will want to do this sooner rather than later; he may well believe that with the pressure of the snap election in September, he doesn't have time to wait.

I would suspect that the Foggy Bottomites will be doing some poling, during this weekend, to see what the optics may look like, with a huge, allegedly Iranian false flag, followed by an American war against the country. I hope and pray, that the optics will be horrific.

And as I have seen in recent years, just becomes something is so ham-fistedly, pig headedly stupid for the US government to do, is no guarantee that they won't do it.

Lira Slides After Turkey Vows It Will Retaliate To US Sanctions Over S-400

Two weeks ago, when Trump started rolling out tariffs left and right as a political punishment weapon for any sovereigns who presented hurdles to
Next on Trump’s train of terrifying tariffs: Turkey.

The reason is simple: Turkey's now official stance that it would proceed with concluding the Russian S-400 missile deal despite vocal opposition from both the US president and Congress. And now, Turkey, too, is bracing for what now appears inevitable as it refuses to budge on its commitment to the Kremlin.

Overnight, Turkey said it would hold firm in its commitment to honor its purchase of Russian air defense systems, warning the US that it is prepared to take "reciprocal steps" in reply to any sanctions imposed by Washington, effectively admitting that sanctions by the White House are only a matter of time.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please; the more you inflame a country, in terms of attempting to punish it for its choices of weapons defenses, the more that country will turn toward other countries whose policies it feels are more in line with its own.

Or is this yet another of the "unintended consequences" of your foreign policy failures with the tariffs so far?!?

Japanese Tanker Owner Denies Ship Hit By Mine, Says Crew Saw "Flying Objects" Before Attack

For a moment on Thursday, it appeared that the US Navy had produced the 'smoking gun' to which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had alluded during his statement from earlier in the day: CENTCOM footage which the Navy said purported to show Iran's IRGC 'caught in the act' of trying to remove an unexploded mine from the Kokuka Courageous, one of the two tankers damaged in Thursday's attacks.

CENTCOM said the video it released showed the IRGC removing an unexploded limpet mine from the side of one of the tankers, suggesting Tehran had sought to remove evidence from the scene.

After the video's release, Iran continued to deny any involvement in the attacks. And perhaps now we know why.

Because in comments that cast the entire narrative promulgated by the US in doubt, Yutaka Katada, the president of Kokuka Sangyo, the owner and operator of the Kokuka Courageous, said Friday that he doesn't completely believe Washington's version of events.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US narrative on this, has more holes than does a pasta colander; the US should walk away, with as much grace as humanly possible; however, they are doubling down on their claims this morning, continually having looped the very grainy video that a clever 10 year old could have crash-edited together, as evidence that Iran moved a mine from one tanker.

I would far more believe President Katada, president of and owner of the vessel of the ship, in terms of what he believed he saw, and his naval background tells me that he is a credible witness; this means, of course, you will never hear another word out of him, except in the Independent media, like WRH.

The Caliphate Project, Made in America. Declassified U.S. Government Documents Confirm the US Supported the Creation of ISIS

The newly-declassified document continues:

Yes, you read that correctly:

… there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist Principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime ….

US to Jail 1,400 Immigrant Children at WWII Japanese Internment Site

The Pentagon announced yesterday that the Trump administration will detain 1,400 immigrant children at the site of a World War II-era Japanese internment camp, Fort Sill Army Base in Lawton, Oklahoma.

The decision, announced Tuesday as Trump denounced immigrants and socialism at a rally in Iowa, is a calculated political maneuver.

“Immigration really is the defining issue of 2020,” Trump said in Des Moines shortly after the Pentagon announcement. “When it comes to immigration, Democrats no longer represent American citizens. … The Democratic Party is really now the socialist party.”

The decision to re-open the internment camp at Fort Sill is a further milestone in the breakdown of democratic forms of rule and a sign that the government is reviving the worst crimes in American history as official state policy. It is a signal to Trump’s extreme right-wing supporters that the government is prepared to enact more openly dictatorial forms of rule.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The title is already treading down a treacherous pathway, by describing these kids as "Jailed"; and David, I hear you; but the US government has minor kids for whom they have chosen to be responsible.

To try to educate these children successfully; inspire them with high moral standards and point them toward a successful life in the 21st century, can only be described as a very daunting task.

I think that how we do this, is just as important as what the government is doing here. How these kids are treated, and what success stories may come out of this, will define our nation in the years to come.

But if there is any blame to lay, it is on the parents of kids who just abandoned them on the US side of the border; kids need families, and to dump a child, so that they have no chance to be rejoined with their families, is truly a criminal act.

But let's try to give the program the benefit of the doubt, and hope that all educators, and child welfare professionals, will work with these kids to give them the best life possible, under the circumstances.

So in closing, David, I am curious as to what you think would be a better idea, and in what other facilities you would like to see the Government house these kids?!? Because unless you have a workable alternative, and as painful as that memory of these detention camps are, it may have been the best alternative they could find.

The hidden history of these detention camps should be brought into the light of day, by people like you,and never forgotten; I understand that one of the stars on Star Trek, George Takai, lived with his parents in such a camp when he was very young, and the emotional scarring is still very present for him.

I would like to hope that school volunteers, working various community leaders, can make arrangements to come down to visit these kids, and create some bonds.

And yes, this is an horrendous choice; but let us hope that good people around this facility will make the kids' tenure here, less awful than it might have been otherwise.

Convenient “Tanker Attacks” as US Seeks War with Iran

“…it would be far more preferable if the United States could cite an Iranian provocation as justification for the airstrikes before launching them. Clearly, the more outrageous, the more deadly, and the more unprovoked the Iranian action, the better off the United States would be. Of course, it would be very difficult for the United States to goad Iran into such a provocation without the rest of the world recognizing this game, which would then undermine it.” (emphasis added)

– Brookings Institution, “Which Path to Persia?” 2009

All Too Convenient

This news of “attacked” oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz blamed by the US on Iran – comes all too conveniently on the heels of additional steps taken by Washington to pressure Iran’s economy and further undermine the Iranian government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder why the US and Israel continue to trot out the same old "game plans" which had worked so well as the justifications for former wars, like the war in Viet Nam, Iraq, or Afghanistan, but cannot possibly work now?!?

Well, let's say that President Bush's regime changed all of that.

And the reality is that, ever since President Bush went on his savage media campaign against Saddam Hussein and Iraq, lying to Americans and the world, that Hussein had "weapons of mass destruction", which Bush absolutely knew were not there, thinking Americans could no longer believe or trust anything this government says.

Thinking Americans understand that what drives the trajectory of US foreign policy, is its ability to expropriate foreign resources, to which it has absolutely no moral right; insure that the government of that country is "US/Western centric", and that those resources are only sold in US dollars.

So, there you have it, very neatly and simply packaged.

And until, and unless, the US loses another major war, this will simply keep continuing,no matter the utterly ruinous costs to our country.

The American people have absolutely zero choice, because no matter how many times we vote in national elections, our two Presidential candidates have been thoroughly vetted by the military industrial complex, the large corporations which have "specific expectations" about what they will get, by going along along with one of the two candidates.

So we vote, yet absolutely nothing changes, except the locales of the wars; the catastrophic slip in most of our standards of living; the infrastructure is left to crumble; our Vets wind up sleeping rough in our sleep; our "education system" is complete rubbish, and families living in their cars, have become the "new normal".

Welcome to the 21st Century's Unhinged, Surveilled, State of Amerika.

Saudi Arabia says it has stepped up readiness level, committed to supply oil markets

Khalid al-Falih condemned the strikes against the tankers — one of which carried methanol from Saudi Arabia — in the Gulf of Oman, which followed an attack last month on four vessels, including two Saudi oil tankers, off the United Arab Emirates.

He said the energy ministry of the world’s top oil exporter and state oil giant Aramco had raised the level of readiness to deal with “such aggressive terrorist acts” and reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to the reliable supply of oil to international markets, the state news agency SPA said.

American and Saudi officials have blamed Iran for the May 12 sabotage of tankers off the UAE’s Fujairah bunkering hub that lies outside the Strait of Hormuz, a charge Tehran denies.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States has assessed, based on intelligence, type of weapons used and level of expertise needed, that Iran is responsible for Thursday’s attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Libya parliament chief allied to Haftar rules out talks before Tripoli captured

CAIRO/TRIPOLI (Reuters) - The head of the Libyan parliament aligned with eastern forces trying to seize the capital from the internationally-backed government said on Thursday there could be no peace talks until they had captured the city.

Forces led by Khalifa Haftar launched an offensive on Tripoli in early April but the assault has stalled in the face of resistance from local armed groups aligned with the U.N.-recognised government there.

Haftar and his backers say they are trying to free the capital from militias which they blame for destabilising Libya since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in a NATO-backed uprising in 2011.

Haftar’s critics accuse him of trying to seize power through force and deepening a conflict between factions based in the east and west of the sprawling North African country.

The campaign on Tripoli has left at least 653 dead and displaced more than 93,000, according to the United Nations, as well as causing extensive material damage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This... is all about Libya's oil, and in which country's denomination it will be sold.

Haftar's conquest of Tripoli, will definitely put him, and his troops, in the "driver's seat", in terms of setting up those oil valuations, and accepted currencies.

TEAM OF AMERICAN HACKERS AND EMIRATI SPIES DISCUSSED ATTACKING THE INTERCEPTSam Biddle, Matthew Cole

OPERATIVES AT A controversial cybersecurity firm working for the United Arab Emirates government discussed targeting The Intercept and breaching the computers of its employees, according to two sources, including a member of the hacking team who said they were present at a meeting to plan for such an attack.

The firm, DarkMatter, brought ex-National Security Agency hackers and other U.S. intelligence and military veterans together with Emirati analysts to compromise the computers of political dissidents at home and abroad, including American citizens, Reuters revealed in January. The news agency also reported that the FBI is investigating DarkMatter’s use of American hacking expertise and the possibility that it was wielded against Americans.

Russia Sees Through Trump’s Iran Bluster, but Has Middle East Problems of Its Own

By trying to isolate Russia and Iran, the US is only isolating itself.

President Donald Trump won’t go to war with Iran. That was the prediction of Russian experts I interviewed in Moscow during the height of the US-Iran crisis in May. They were right.

To date, Trump has threatened military action against North Korea, Venezuela, and Iran. But, while he has caused tremendous damage to ordinary people with tariffs and economic sanctions, he hasn’t started any new wars. Countries around the world can now, after two years of Trump, distinguish between genuine military aggression and bluster.

But Ivan Konovalov, head of the Center for Studies of Strategic Trends, notes that each country has its own political, military, and economic interests in the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Netanyahu pushes a "false flag" in the Persian Gulf or beyond against Iran, Trump's hands may well be tied in trying to get out of it, without a war against it.

House Panel Approves $733 Billion Military Bill, Drops Low-Yield Nukes

The House Armed Services Committee has passed a $733 billion version of the annual military spending bill. The vote was 33-24, largely along party lines, and will send this version to the House floor for a vote.

Once the House passes a version of this bill, it must be reconciled with the Senate version. That’s going to be a big job this year, as there are some major differences in the bills on some key subjects of debate.

One of the biggest issues is the question of low-yield nuclear weapons. The House bill ends funding for the low-yield nuclear missiles, and bars their deployment. A last minute Republican amendment in committee to preserve the weapons failed.

Low-yield nukes are intended by the Pentagon to be more usable, tactical weapons, that would have a much lower threshold for deployment. This was the source of support among hawks, but also the source of much opposition, concern that more usable nukes would usher in an era where nuclear warfare is more routine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Normalizing the use of ANY nuclear weapons, is utterly obscene.

Why would Iran attack two tankers near the Strait of Hormuz?

In a brief press conference Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed no doubt about who attacked two tankers in the Gulf of Oman, saying Iran was “responsible for the attacks.”

He did not, however, immediately offer any proof of the intelligence behind that assessment.

The attack certainly bears the hallmark and capabilities of previous aggressive actions undertaken by Iran and its paramilitary cohorts in the Persian Gulf.

But questions abound over who actually stands to benefit most from an attack in a region beset by violence and convoluted proxy conflicts raged between and Iran and Saudi Arabia and its allies.

Was the attack carried out by Iran, or other Gulf States seeking to sow conflict ? or did the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps operate outside of Tehran’s directives to further its own agenda?

Iran's Air Defence Chief: 'We Are Warning the Enemy…Move as Far Away As You Can From Our Border

Strained relations between Washington and Tehran got worse last month after the US parked a carrier strike group in the Arabian Sea and built up its presence in the Middle East while accusing Iran of involvement in the sabotage of four tankers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.

Iranian Air Defence Force commander Brig. Gen. Alireza Sabahifard has urged Tehran's adversaries to keep their distance from the country's frontiers.

"We are warning the enemy: there is no safe zone for extraterritorial military aircraft in Iranian skies... Even approaching Iran's borders would be met with a strong response. Thus, I advise you to move as much away [from Iran's borders] as you can," the commander said, as quoted by PressTV.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately for General Sabahifard, the reason the US and aligned forces have kept a respectful distance, is that optics demand a far greater "false flag" to be blamed on Iran, than what has happened recently.

Iranian Mission to UN 'Categorically Rejects' US Claims Regarding Gulf of Oman Attacks

In a Thursday statement, Iran's mission to the United Nations announced the country rejects the US claim that Tehran was responsible for attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman earlier in the day.

"Iran categorically rejects the US unfounded claim with regard to 13 June oil tanker incidents and condemns it in the strongest possible terms," reads the mission statement.

Tehran's remarks follow US Central Command's deployment of the US Navy destroyer USS Mason to the Gulf of Oman after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo labeled Iran responsible for torpedo attacks on the oil tankers Kokuka Courageous and Front Altair.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So now, we have the USS Bainbridge, and the USS Mason heading over to the Gulf of Oman?!?

Israel strikes Gaza for 2nd night in response to rocket fire (VIDEO)

The IDF has struck “terrorist targets” in the Gaza Strip for the second night in a row. The strikes were launched in retaliation for rocket fire from the enclave which reportedly hit a Jewish educational facility in Sderot.
The strikes on early Friday morning reportedly targeted at least two locations around Gaza City, in the vicinity of the airstrikes Israel has conducted a day earlier. Following the initial air strikes, the IDF artillery fired two shells east of Rafah in the southern Strip, a Wafa correspondent reports, noting that it is difficult to assess the casualties or damage yet.

Oil Prices Spike After Gulf of Oman Tanker Incident

Oil prices spiked on Thursday after two vessels were seemingly attacked in the Gulf of Oman, one of the world’s most important shipping lanes.

Fears of military conflict between Washington and Tehran in the aftermath of the incident involving The Front Altair and the Kokuka Courageous tankers sent the oil price up over 4.5%, with Brent crude hitting $62.64 per barrel and US crude touching $53.45, dragging oil away from the five-month lows struck last night.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was perfectly predictable, given the tensions in the region.

US sends destroyer to Gulf of Oman tanker incident site as Pentagon says ‘no interest’ in new war

The US has dispatched another warship to the Gulf of Oman, but says it has “no interest” in engaging in a new Middle East conflict. The State Department accused Iran of attacking two tankers there, which Tehran denies.
Guided missile destroyer USS Mason will join the destroyer USS Bainbridge on station near the Kokuka Courageous, a damaged tanker just outside the Persian Gulf, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday, adding that “Iranian small boats” were spotted in the area.

No interference with USS Bainbridge, or its mission, will be tolerated.

The Florida-based combat command called the attacks on tankers “a clear threat to international freedom of navigation and freedom of commerce.”

"We have no interest in engaging in a new conflict in the Middle East,” CENTCOM added. “We will defend our interests, but a war with Iran is not in our strategic interest, nor in the best interest of the international community.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

And we have a sister article, also from rt.com on the incident, and the dispatching of the USS Bainbridge. And notice regarding the Bainbridge, the following statement is made: " No interference with USS Bainbridge, or its mission, will be tolerated."

Folks, I don't know about you, but to me, this telegraphs that something wicked this way comes, courtesy of those whose responsibility it is for creating false flags in both the US and Israel. I don't know how long it will take the USS Bainbridge to reach its destination, but I would expect that shortly before this happens, we will be looking at another incident, to blame again on Iran.

And the title of this companion article is Backing Pompeo's ‘Gulf of Tonkin’ incident is a massive anti-Iran online propaganda campaign

And it goes on to state: "Twitter has announced that it is removing 4,779 accounts associated or backed by Tehran, the latest strike in the ongoing anti-Iran campaign perfectly timed to coincide with the attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was already blaming Iran hours after the incident, offering not a shred of proof aside from a few other dubious incidents in the Middle East that the US has previously pinned on Iran, without evidence.

Even the mainstream media has initially been reluctant to take his word for it, mostly because the narrative is so improbable. Japan's PM Shinzo Abe was in Tehran, promising to use his "utmost effort" to de-escalate tensions, when as if on cue, a Japanese ship was hit along with a Norwegian vessel."

I am almost certain, that something horrific is going to happen on, or right before, the USS Bainbridge reaches the Persian Gulf; the next couple of days should tell the tale.

SUDAN'S TOPPLED PRESIDENT OMAR AL-BASHIR CHARGED WITH CORRUPTION

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM
Sudan's public prosecutor has charged jailed former President Omar al-Bashir with corruption, according to state media.

Al-Bashir was overthrown and arrested in a coup by the military on April 11 after months of mass protests against his 30-year autocratic rule.

The SUNA news agency on Thursday quoted an official source as saying that al-Bashir "had been charged under foreign exchange possession materials, the heinous and suspicious wealth and emergency orders".

No other details were given.

Al-Bashir, who has not been seen in public since his arrest, had already been charged in May with incitement and involvement in the killing of protesters.

Prosecutors had also ordered his interrogation on suspicion of money laundering and financing terrorism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope that this means, in general, a better deal for Sudanese civilians, now that Al-Bashir is gone.

SAUDIS RELEASE DRAMATIC VIDEO OF "IRAN-ORDERED" HOUTHI MISSILE ATTACK ON AIRPORT TERMINAL

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE
Amid fast escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf surrounding Thursday morning's mysterious "attacks" on two tankers which US officials are already blaming on Iran, Saudi Arabia has released CCTV footage of this week's previously reported Yemeni Houthi missile attack on a civilian airport terminal in the southern part of the kingdom.

"The Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia, through its media, claimed full responsibility for this terrorist act using a cruise missile – as they claim- which constitutes a clear recognition and full responsibility for the targeting of civilians and civilian places that are subject to special protection under international humanitarian law, this may amount to a war crime,” a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, Col. Turki al-Malki, said in an official statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's do something amazing, and actually think, for a moment, can we please?!?

What is the logic of an Iranian move like this, when its leadership is desperately attempting to stave off potential attacks from Israel; Saudi Arabia; and the US?!?

The short answer is, there is zero logic in this move; and although Iranian leadership may be many things, stupid... is not one of them.

US WIPES OUT AFGHAN SECURITY FORCES UNIT IN MAJOR FRIENDLY FIRE INCIDENT

SOURCE: ANTIWAR.COM
By Jason Ditz
For the second time in less than a month, US forces carried out airstrikes “in self defense” in Afghanistan, only to discover that they were actually attacking Afghan security forces. The Wednesday strike ended up wiping out an entire unit, though officials have yet to disclose the exact number of deaths, beyond it apparently being everyone present.

The previous attack saw US ground troops believing they were under fire, and the warplanes attacking police, killing 18. In this case, too, US officials said they believed the troops came under fire, and the airstrikes targeted the Afghan forces, who had been firing machine guns.

Despite all the talk of self defense and US troops being “under effective fire,” officials insist not a single US casualty occurred. US officials expressed “regret” for the deaths of Afghan partners.

Webmaster's Commentary:

MailChimp blocks sending of all emails about vaccine awareness; here’s what to use instead

Multiple sources are now telling Natural News that MailChimp, an online hosted email list sending service, is blocking all emails that seek to inform recipients about vaccine safety issues. This is affecting dozens of local vaccine awareness organizations who had built email announcement lists using the MailChimp subscription engine. Now they cannot send emails to their own lists.

Even worse, MailChimp is reportedly preventing email list owners from exporting their email lists, meaning that MailChimp is, according to our sources, holding email lists “hostage” as a kind of economic punishment for those who dared challenge the medical status quo and question the safety of any vaccine.

Effectively, MailChimp is now operating as a branch of the CDC’s “vaccine deep state,” enforcing its speech police to prevent anyone from questioning the official narrative on vaccines.

Netanyahu Vows More Preemptive Attacks Against SyriaSays Israel will attack in a 'systematic and consistent manner'

Following Syrian reports that they’d foiled an Israeli attack near the Golan Heights, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to launch even more preemptive attacks against Syria into the future.

Netanyahu said Israel was facing “unending” tests, and that they would continue to attack in a “systematic and consistent manner” to ensure that Syria never establishes any capability to threaten Israel.

In practice Israel has been attacking targets in Syria on a regular basis for months now, and indeed has spent much of the Syrian War feigning neutrality while backing rebel groups, and attacking pro-government forces on every pretext, and often with no pretext at all.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just how long Russia is going to put up with this nonsense, before it hits back, or threatens Israel in such a way, that it cannot refuse Russia's desire for Israel to stop these attacks?

US Senate Upholds Arms Sales to Bahrain and Qatar

In two surprising votes held on Thursday, the Senate rejected bills by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to block US arms sales to Bahrain and Qatar. The Bahrain vote was 43-56, and the Qatar vote was 42-57.

Sen. Paul has been leading pushes against selling US arms to countries with authoritarian governments. In Thursday’s comments he declared that “dumping more weapons into the Middle East won’t get us any closer to peace.” He also urged the US to “stop sending arms to people who abuse human rights.”

The Senate leadership dismissed such concerns, saying that Bahrain and Qatar would find arms somewhere even if the US didn’t sell them. Emphasis on the importance of the two nations centered on them hosting America’s 5th Fleet and Central Command headquarters, respectively. The White House had threatened to veto either of the measures if they’d passed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What absolutely sickens me, here, is that the US Government, headed by our Merchant of Death In Chief, President Trump, in its weapons sales orgy, has decided that it is simply a financial deal, and who the heck cares about who gets killed or maimed for life, from these dictatorial regimes.

To those who fully understand President Kennedy's quote in 1962; "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.", this country is in "deep kim-chee" (trouble) with these sales of weapons to the heads of brutally autocratic states in the Middle East.

This country is making enemies out of those people who have peacefully demonstrated, and found themselves at the receiving end of all the brutality their countries can dish out.

Let is take a look at one of the most recent outrages with one of President Trump's BFFs in the Middle East, the Butcher of Yemen, aka Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Saudi teen faces execution for crimes allegedly committed when he was ten

This article goes on to state:

"There have already been at least 104 executions in Saudi Arabia in 2019, with ESOHR putting the number at 107 and Amnesty at 104.

“The Saudi Arabian authorities have a chilling track record of using the death penalty as a weapon to crush political dissent and punish anti-government protesters - including children - from the country’s persecuted Shia minority,” Amnesty International’s Middle East Research Director Lynn Maalouf has said in a statement.

She has added that “There should be no doubt that the Saudi Arabian authorities are ready to go to any length to crack down on dissent against their own citizens, including by resorting to the death penalty for men who were merely boys at the time of their arrest.”

News.com.au, got the story almost straight: Saudi teen faces beheading and crucifixion for protesting as a child

So, hey, Saudi Government, I have "a modest proposal"; why don't you sell rights to the event, livestreamed, while your murdering officials torture, crucify, then behead this kid?!?

Wow, wouldn't THAT provide "magnificent optics" for the real processes of the Wahabbi judicial system, protected by the Saudi monarchy, in Saudi Arabia?!? Hey, let's let the WHOLE WORLD SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, FOR ALLEGED CRIMES HE COMMITTED WHEN HE WAS 10!!!!

And President Trump, who has become this nation's "Merchant of Death in Chief", with regards to weapons sales to Saudi Arabia, a word, please: I do hope that the Butcher of Yemen, does send you some images of this crucifixion, torture, and beheading of this kid, if it happens; and I say this to you, sir, because you need to fully understand the Saudi Monarchy's Wahabi concept of "justice"; I think that looking at such images, may give you the kind of "grounding" you desperately need, with regard to future weapons sales to the Saudis, and other oppressive countries in the region, like Bahrain.

12THE SELF-DESTRUCTIVE TRAJECTORY OF OVERLY SUCCESSFUL EMPIRES

It’s difficult not to see signs of this same trajectory in the U.S. since the fall of the Soviet Empire in 1990.

A recent comment by my friend and colleague, Dave Fairtex, on the Roman Empire’s self-destructive civil wars that precipitated the Western Empire’s decline and fall made me rethink what I’ve learned about the Roman Empire in the past few years of reading.

Dave’s comment (my paraphrase) described the amazement of neighboring nations that Rome would squander its strength on needless, inconclusive, self-inflicted civil conflicts over which political faction would gain control of the Imperial central state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every individual, like every civilization, has a life cycle; a beginning; a middle, and an end.

I do not see our alleged representatives actually doing nearly anything constructive in Congress; what I see... is the petulant, arrested development behaviour of people who are supposed to be taking care of their country, lost in the bubbling ooze, of their own personal and professional vendettas, and wanting to make that priceless "inside knowledge" they get, 24/7, to work for them, economically, as best they can.

Ladies and Gentlemen in Congress; we have infrastructure which is crumbling; Veterans sleeping rough in our streets, and a National Debt, which is horribly out of control. US:
NATIONAL DEBT: $22,025,629,973,683

Yes, you read that correctly: we are looking at a $22 trillion deficit.

So, Congress; a word, please; every time you pull another "Gotya!!" moment on the opposite side of the aisle, we understand that you are not doing what we hired you to do, which, I seem to believe, was assisting with the actual governance of the country.

2 TANKERS DAMAGED AFTER SUSPECTED TORPEDO ATTACK NEAR STRAIT OF HORMUZ; OIL SOARS

UPDATE: It appears earlier reports that the Front Altair had sunk were, in fact, incorrect. The ship’s captain has said that it is still afloat. VHF radio traffic confirmed that it is damaged but still afloat.

Hours have passed since the suspected attacks, and still, nobody has claimed responsibility. Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has noted how suspicious it is that a Japanese owned vessel would be attacked while Iranian leaders were meeting with the Japanese prime minister in Tehran.

And as one BBG analyst pointed out: “Fingers will certainly be pointed at Iran as the mastermind behind these events. But the potential benefits to the Persian Gulf nation are outweighed by the risks. And even if Tehran isn’t responsible, it will still suffer the consequences.”

Update: The Front Altair, the Marshall Islands flag tanker damaged in Thursday’s attacks, has now sunk, according to Iranian television. Later, others denied these reports.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The logical question which must be asked, and quickly, is, why in the name of Heaven, would Iran do something so pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid, when they are absolutely desperately trying to hold the US and Israel at bay, in terms of not starting a shooting war?!?

We the American people have to have the courage, to ask our alleged representatives, this question, and ask they if they are for a US-led shooting war against Iran?!?

The short answer is, they wouldn't.

So however this was done, I have a very nasty feeling in the pit of my gut, that this could well have happened, courtesy of an American, or Israeli, "false flag team", to make it appear that the Iranians would actually do something so idiotic, as to try to force a shooting war in the region.

The Iranian government members, may be many things; stupid, however, is not one of them.

Teachers from two Chicago schools 'bullied a special-needs student, 11, relentlessly, calling him "stupid" and "dirty," before he attempted to hang himself and was left with permanent brain damage,' lawsuit claims

Teachers from two elementary schools in Chicago relentlessly bullied an 11-year-old boy with special needs, calling him names and even physically assaulting him, before he attempted to take his own life, according to a lawsuit filed by the child's mother.

Jamari Dent in February tried to hang himself in his bedroom after suffering for more than a year at the hands of both his classmates and teachers, his mother, Teirra Black, said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Medics were able to save the boy's life, but his suicide attempt left him with permanent brain damage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wept when I read this.

If this kind of behaviour, on the part of both teachers and their students, is the US's "New Normal" for public schools toward their special needs students, then God help us!!!!

In my world, a society is only at is greatest heights, when it treats its most delicate, needful members, with absolute compassion, and kindness.

And this is precisely what special needs kids crave. I know this because many years ago, my first job out of college, was with a private care home, and I was hired as their music therapist. I didn't have the credentials, but the owner looked at me, and said that she believed I could think on my feet, and do a great job.

I would have music sessions with the kids, and used stories and games, as a way of gently try bringing them just a little out of their limitations, as much as possible.

I remember one kid, a fraternal twin, named Alonzo, who was deeply autistic, wheelchair bound, and not able to communicate, save with guttural cries, which gave us no clue about what he was experiencing.

I was partnered with him, to get him to be able to feed himself. I watched my predecessor try to do this, and I was immediately struck with the reality; the kid was a southpaw, and the teacher was forcing him to try to eat with his right hand. It took months, but finally, left handed, the kid could finally feed himself; and I remember very gently stroking his shoulders, and saying, very quietly, "Great work, Alonzo, good job!!" To most kids, this would be a minor issue, but for Alonzo, it was an Herculean leap. Kindness and consistency can really help these kids attain what potential might be still possible to develop.

But IF proven guilty, these teachers should be stripped from the profession, and never allowed to teach again, ever, anywhere, period, end of discussion, because this is child abuse writ large, and has absolutely no place in any public educational institutions.

A Russian-American-Israeli Meeting of National Security Advisors in Jerusalem: Syria and Iran on the Table

This month of June, the National Security Advisors of Russia, the US, and Israel, Nikolay Patrushev, John Bolton and Meir Ben-Shabbat, respectively, are expected to meet in Jerusalem to talk about Iran and Syria and what Israel considers the “threat to its security” in the Levant.

High-ranking sources among decision-makers say this:

“Netanyahu runs to his allies to cry on their shoulders when he is the aggressor, as in every single problem in the Levant, particularly when the Israeli military exceeds the limits and crosses red lines. Last year, Russia agreed with Iran to create a kind of safety perimeter for the Russian military to take control along the Quneitra-Golan Heights front. That would have made it possible to ease the situation on the borders and allow President Assad and his allies to concentrate on other fronts. Iran responded positively to the Russian request, following the approval of President Assad”.

THE FBI TRAGEDY: ELITES ABOVE THE LAW

SOURCE: VICTOR DAVIS HANSON VIA NATIONAL REVIEW

After decades in the FBI, the top brass came to believe they could flout the law and pursue their own political agendas.

Webmaster's Commentary:

US TREASURY DEPT IMPOSES NEW IRAN-RELATED SANCTIONS ON 2 INDIVIDUALS AND A COMPANY IN IRAQ

SOURCE: RT

The US Treasury Department announced sanctions on Wednesday against two Iraq-based persons and one company, for their alleged links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Makki Kazim and Mohammed Hussein, along with the South Wealth Resources Company have all been hit with secondary sanctions, according to the Treasury Department website.

Secondary sanctions form a major part of US international statecraft, cutting off businesses and individuals from the US financial system and tarnishing their reputations with international businesses and banks. A number of measures can be enforced against targeted individuals, ranging from limiting their ability to do business in the US to prohibiting all US parties from conducting business with them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sanctions, with which the Trump administration is replacing, and substituting for any kind of rational negotiations, will not bring about the desired result with Iran.

The only thing which will make that happen, is for the US to return to the P5+1 agreement; but President Trump; Pompeo; and Bolton adamantly allow any reasonable discussions here regarding this happening.

Meanwhile in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, is sweating bullets, because his failure to put together a coalition, so there will be another election this September.
Israeli Snap Elections to be held in September, 2019

If he is unable to prod Trump, and the US government, into a seething war footing, and do something to get a war going against Iran, it may well cost him the next election.

So if we see any kind of a false flag happening between now and September, to be blamed on Iran, this will most likely be an Israeli intervention, just as was the attack on the USS Liberty all those years ago, which Israel tried to blame on Egypt.

BERNIE SANDERS CALLS FOR BRAZIL’S JUDICIARY TO RELEASE LULA IN WAKE OF CORRUPTION EXPOSURE

SOURCE: THE INTERCEPT

FORMER BRAZILIAN PRESIDENT Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva should be released from prison and his conviction should be annulled, said Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, on Tuesday. Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., meanwhile, is calling on the Trump administration to investigate the case that imprisoned the former president on corruption charges, following The Intercept’s exposé that showed Judge Sérgio Moro plotted with prosecutors to convict Lula and prevent the Workers’ Party from returning to power.

NSA WARNS MICROSOFT USERS OF POSSIBLE FAR-REACHING DAMAGE

SOURCE: THE DEEP STATE BLOG

Americans who use outdated versions of Microsoft Windows on their personal and work computers may be in danger of a “wormable” defect that could cause “devastating” and “wide-ranging impacts” according to a cybersecurity advisory from the National Security Agency.

This comes on the heels of a ransomware attack on the city of Baltimore which disrupted some municipal services. The attack was believed to have originated with spyware stolen from the NSA.

Following many warnings by Microsoft leaders, the NSA is warning users who have unpatched versions of Windows on their devices to make sure any cyber holes are able to keep out malicious actors from penetrating individuals’ devices and wreak havoc on their systems.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Or, perchance, is this notice coming now, because people don't like Microsoft's pricing structure, or the service, on new Microsoft products, so they are keeping their software a little longer before they upgrade?!?

SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS INCREASE TRANSPARENCY ABOUT CONTENT REMOVAL REQUESTS, BUT MANY KEEP USERS IN THE DARK WHEN THEIR SPEECH IS CENSORED, EFF REPORT SHOWS

SOURCE: ELECTRONIC FRONTIER FOUNDATION
San Francisco and Tunis, Tunisia—While social media platforms are increasingly giving users the opportunity to appeal decisions to censor their posts, very few platforms comprehensively commit to notifying users that their content has been removed in the first place, raising questions about their accountability and transparency, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) said today in a new report.

How users are supposed to challenge content removals that they’ve never been told about is among the key issues illuminated by EFF in the second installment of its Who Has Your Back: Censorship Edition report. The paper comes amid a wave of new government regulations and actions around the world meant to rid platforms of extremist content. But in response to calls to remove objectionable content, social media companies and platforms have all too often censored valuable speech.

THE TYRANNY OF DRUG LAWS

SOURCE: THE FUTURE OF FREEDOM FOUNDATION
by Jacob G. Hornberger

The recent drug bust of Russian journalist Ivan Golunov reminds us of another aspect of drug laws — the ability of tyrannical regimes to use such laws to target innocent people. In fact, consider any tyrannical regime in the world — North Korea, China, Vietnam, Cuba, Egypt, Myanmar (Burma), Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and others. I will guarantee you that every one of them has viciously enforced drug laws. That’s not a coincidence. Tyranny and drug laws go together like bread and butter.

Golunov specializes in investigating and uncovering official corruption. According to the Washington Post, his investigations have uncovered corruption in the office of the Moscow mayor, the funeral business, and elsewhere.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The drug war is fought because it means money for the cartels; for politicians dirty enough to accept portions of the drug money for their election campaigns; it means money for public and private prisons; it means banks make a huge profit on laundering this money.

It does utterly nothing to assist those people who have wound up addicted, and desperately need to get off the drugs.

What would be an intelligent approach to the problem, is what Portugal did many years ago; they decriminalized the use of drugs for personal use, but got the people on those drugs, to seek counseling. The numbers of users fell dramatically here, and the stats tell the story of a successful government program.

Of course, that will happen in this country... when pigs discover they are aerodynamic.

ANTITRUST HEARING STARTS WITH BIG MEDIA CITING JUNK STUDY TO DEMAND BIG TECH HAND THEM TONS OF MONEY

From Forbes:

A congressional panel will today kick off its antitrust investigation into Google, Amazon, Apple and Facebook with an examination of the way they affect the news media landscape.

The investigation coincides with the publication of a new report from the News Media Alliance which concludes that Google received an estimated $4.7 billion in revenue last year from crawling and scraping news publishers’ content.
That's not a coincidence. The News Media Alliance is an media industry lobbyist group.

Today's hearing by the House Judiciary antitrust subcommittee, led by Rhode Island Democrat David Cicilline, will examine whether current antitrust laws are effective in preventing anti-competitive behaviour.

"I think we’re going to hear about what the impact has been on the news industry as a result of this huge market dominance," Cicilline says.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problems with Google and Facebook, and with the corporate waresspondents and presstitutes, is the degree to which they are not only both refusing to tell the stories Americans truly need to hear, but also, with Facebook and Google, they are deplatforming, and demonetizing, any resource which actually does this.

And here is one issue which, unless you consistently read the independent media, you most probably have not heard about: the US is enabling Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

Try this on DuckDuckGo; put the above-referenced phrase in, and prepare to be both enlightened, and terrified; this is what President Trump is allowing to happen, in your name, and with your tax dollars.

And if you look for images of the carnage the US is assisting Saudi Arabia to create in Yemen, you have to go to other than Google, because Google has been given its marching orders, not to have these images appear at all.

Please remember; the "canaries in the coal mine" are those independent voices, like Republic Broadcasting, and WRH; so if you can, please donate.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT SURVEILLANCE TECH COULDN’T GET ANY MORE ORWELLIAN…

SOURCE: THEORGANICPREPPER.COM
BY GRAYWOLF

One of my favorite TV shows was Person of Interest. In that show, a genius programmer was hired by the government to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) computer to tap into and analyze communication feeds and predict activities that may pose a threat. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, things spun out of control; the system that was designed to benefit society was not always beneficial to citizens.

As amusing as it is to watch escapist fiction such as this, it’s not so enjoyable when you realize it’s no longer fiction. China has already developed the infrastructure to envelop their citizens in this protective surveillance net and has begun that slippery slope of using AI to not only catch activities deemed undesired by the government – it’s starting to take action against those observed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You might be laughing at the above scenario; but rest assured, there are systems like this coming to the US government, which can, and will, be just as abusive as is the Chinese system right now.

‘EXTRAORDINARY & PERSISTENT ILLEGALITY’: UK'S MI5 ACCUSED OF MISHANDLING BULK SURVEILLANCE DATA

UK domestic counter-intelligence service MI5 has been accused in High Court of violating data collection and storage privileges by storing private citizens’ information in bulk without proper protections.
MI5 has no control of its storage of vast volumes of people’s calls, messages, web browsing history, as well as other personal data that the agency has managed to obtain on the basis of surveillance warrants, which were often issued under false pretext, the High Court heard on Tuesday in a legal challenge brought by the human rights organization Liberty.

JULIAN ASSANGE: US SUBMITS FORMAL EXTRADITION REQUEST FOR WIKILEAKS FOUNDER

SOURCE: INDEPENDENT UK
The US Justice Department has delivered to officials in the United Kingdom a formal extradition request for Julian Assange, making further US charges against the WikiLeaks founder unlikely.

A US official who spoke on background to discuss a sensitive matter said the request was sent on Thursday.

The United States’ treaty with Britain required that the request be sent within 60 days of Assange’s 11 April arrest at Ecuador’s Embassy in London.

The same treaty bars the United States from prosecuting Assange for any alleged crimes beyond those outlined in the extradition request, unless those acts occur after his extradition.

In an 18-count indictment filed last month, prosecutors charged Assange with violating the Espionage Act and conspiring to hack into a government computer.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Espionage Act carries the possibility of a death sentence against Assange

I would like to hope that the DOJ will not be so draconian as to suggest it; but it is still something the US government could potentially use, depending on how deeply the Deep State is offended by what Wikileaks brought into the open sunlight, and into the arena of public discussion.

Please remember: nothing Wikileaks revealed, has never, ever been proven wrong.

THE HOUSE JUST VOTED TO HOLD ATTORNEY GENERAL WILLIAM BARR AND FORMER WHITE HOUSE COUNSEL DON MCGAHN IN CIVIL CONTEMPT

SOURCE: BUSINESS INSIDER
The House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to allow a congressional committee to enforce subpoenas by taking uncooperative executive-branch officials to court using a civil-contempt resolution.

A civil-contempt resolution is different from criminal contempt of Congress, which can result in lofty fines and even jail time.

The move comes after the House Judiciary Committee advanced contempt of Congress resolutions for both Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn, marking the most severe congressional action against President Donald Trump's administration since Democrats reclaimed the chamber's majority.

The 229-191 vote fell straight along party lines. The resolution required only a simple majority and needed to be passed in only one chamber of Congress. It came after the House Judiciary Committee hammered out the details of the contempt resolution in a marathon hearing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would very politely like to point out, that the more time the Democrats spend on this absolute "playing to the galleries" nonsense, the less time they have doing the work their alleged constituents hired them to do.

Put perhaps, doing the actual, and critically necessary work for their constituents, was never really in the cards for this current crop of House and Senate Democrats.

I have never, in 70 years of existence on this planet, seen a political environment so rancidly toxic, and it makes us look, to the world of stable democracies, like elementary school children, fighting over a dodge ball infraction.

Not pretty at all.

Facebook quietly kills off advanced search tool that helped investigators track down war criminals and child predators as critics warn decision could be a 'disaster' for human rights

Facebook has raised the ire of human rights advocates and investigators after it killed off advanced features of a search tool used to surface information on posts, users and other elements of the social media site.

The tool, called Graph, is open to any of the site's users and allows people to search all of Facebook's public data using a set of highly granular filters.

Graph's abilities include finding posts by a user that fall within a certain date range, identifying users who like a specific page and live in a specific city, or surfacing places users have visited as recorded by their check-ins and tags.

But key aspects of Graph, like being able to search videos to find a specific user, were suddenly taken down late last week, Vice reported, citing sources close to the situation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Color me completely unsurprised by this development; it is completely consistent with Facebook's deplatforming/dedollarization of conservative, or alternative, thought which does not conform to the current governmental narrative.

'An embarrassment to the country': Tearful Jon Stewart's excoriating attack on DC lawmakers after only FIVE turn up to hear 9/11 victims plead for their fund to be renewed earned the comedian a standing ovation

Comedian Jon Stewart lashed out at Congress on Tuesday for failing to ensure that a victims' compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks never runs out of money - as just five members out of 14 turned up to hear the victim's appeal for more support.

Stewart, a longtime advocate for 9/11 responders, called out lawmakers for failing to attend a hearing on a bill to ensure the fund can pay benefits for the next 70 years.

The Zadroga Act pledged in 2015 to extend medical coverage until 2090 but now thanks to a rapidly dwindling kitty will fall short, which prompted Stewart and a host of victims' families to appeal for greater funding.

Pointing to rows of empty seats at a house subcommittee hearing room, an angry Stewart, 56, said that 'sick and dying' first responders and their families came to Washington for the hearing, only to face a nearly deserted dais.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Jon, both this little family of 2, and WRH, absolutely stand with you on this issue.

BREAKING: Facebook banned Natural News for “off-platform” article that Natural News never posted to Facebook

Just days after being banned and deleted by Facebook, Natural News has now learned that Facebook banned Natural News because of an opinion article that Natural News never posted to Facebook. The article in question — "LGBT progressivism horrors" — warned against children being physically and chemically disfigured by parents pushing an LGBT indoctrination agenda onto their own children.

Facebook now says the existence of this article is the reason Natural News was de-platformed from Facebook. This means Facebook is banning channels for "off-platform" content.

It’s also an admission that Natural News did nothing to violate any community guidelines or terms of service with Facebook. Quite the opposite, in fact: The Natural News social media team followed a strict procedure of self-censorship all through 2019, meaning no articles about LGBT topics were posted to the Natural News channel on Facebook.

The FBI Tragedy: Elites above the Law

One of the media and beltway orthodoxies we constantly hear is that just a few bad apples under James Comey at the FBI explain why so many FBI elites have been fired, resigned, reassigned, demoted, or retired — or just left for unexplained reasons. The list is long and includes director James Comey himself, deputy director Andrew McCabe, counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, attorney Lisa Page, chief of staff James Rybicki, general counsel James Baker, assistant director for public affairs Mike Kortan, Comey’s special assistant Josh Campbell, executive assistant director James Turgal, assistant director for office of congressional affairs Greg Bower, executive assistant director Michael Steinbach, and executive assistant director John Giacalone. In short, in about every growing scandal of the past two years — FISA, illegal leaking, spying on a presidential candidate, lying under oath, obstructing justice — someone in the FBI is involved.

SAUDI TEEN FACES EXECUTION, CRUCIFIXION FOR TAKING PART IN PROTEST AT AGE 10

A teenager who has been imprisoned by the Saudi Arabian government for nearly 5 years is facing execution for taking part in a protest that happened 8 years ago when he was just 10 years old. Murtaja Qureiris was initially arrested when he was 13 years old, 3 years after an Arab Spring related protest that he took part in.

He has spent at least 15 months of his 5 years in prison isolated in solitary confinement.

The Saudi government has charged him with engaging in anti-government protests, possession of a firearm and they also allege that he was affiliated with a terrorist organization. A boy that was only ten years old at the time is accused of being a gun-wielding terrorist, and now they want to torture and kill him, then mutilate his body.

The prosecutor in the case has recommended that after the now 18-year-old young man is killed, his body should be dismembered, or crucified.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please: if one of your BFFs in the Middle East, the Butcher of Yemen, Mohammed bin Salman, is about to sign off on an execution of this boy, for crimes (most likely coerced under torture) this kid did at the age of 10, will you not, please, try to intervene here?!? After all, you do have the Prince's ear right now, as the US is thoroughly, and completely complicit in his genocide in Yemen.

Or, sir, is the part of his "luster" for you, that he can have people mercilessly tortured and killed, with absolutely no repercussions, for "crimes" they may well not have actually committed, but confessed to, in order to get the torture to stop?

I have come to the very dark conclusion, Mr. President, that this may well be true. The power to kill with impunity, coupled with this Prince's great wealth, are what draws you to him, like a moth to a flame.

But sir, I would very strongly, peacefully, and logically caution you, that this flame can be most dangerous.

You have just signed off on Saudi Arabia getting advanced weapons technology
Trump Allows High-Tech U.S. Bomb Parts to Be Built in Saudi Arabia

I am hoping (and, yes, praying) that this does not become an industrial strength, tactical disaster, in your support of both the Prince, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

FACEBOOK BANS NATURAL NEWS

SOURCE: NATURALNEWS.COM
In response to a coordinated, heavily-funded smear campaign against Natural News and myself, the Health Ranger, Facebook has now permanently banned Natural News from posting content. The channel name that has been banned is Facebook.com/healthranger, which was our primary channel reaching over 2.5 million people.

This is on top of the permanent bans of Natural News content from Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google News, Apple and other techno-fascists that now represent the greatest threat to human freedom the world has ever seen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hundreds of Illegal Immigrants from Congo and Angola Dropped Off in San Antonio

For those of you following along on the Congolese migrant influx in San Antonio, this is what made air on Thursday. A lengthier write-up including the struggles Catholic Charities is facing can be found here: https://www.kens5.com/article/news/local/parle-francais-city-searches-... …@KENS5 #kens5eyewitness

Roughly 350 migrants from the Congo are expected to arrive in San Antonio in the coming days leaving the city scrambling for French-speaking volunteers.

“We didn’t get a heads up,” Interim Assistant City Manager Dr. Collen Bridger told KEN 5 on Thursday.

Bridger said the Congolese migrants began to arrive in town on Tuesday. They told Migrant Resource Center workers, they traveled with a group of about 350 migrants through Ecuador to the southern border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's see... what is going on in the Congo at the moment. According to the following report, by the World Health Organization, it is this:

Ebola has broken out in the Republic of Congo

So I have to wonder; did any of these refugees get tested for ebola before they crossed the US border into Austin?!?

And if not, what the hell is the rationale for just dumping them in Austin?!?
This makes absolutely zero sense to me; does it to you?!?

NORTH KOREAN LEADER'S ASSASSINATED HALF-BROTHER WAS A CIA INFORMANT: WSJ

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE

The half brother of North Korea's Kim Jong Un - who was assassinated in Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia in February 2017, when two women smeared his face with the nerve agent VX - was an informant for the Central Intelligence Agency and met with agency operatives on several occasions, Wall Street Journal reports, citing a person who knew about the matter.

Kim Jong Nam was once considered to be the heir to late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il but he fell out of favor with his father in 2001 after he was caught trying to enter Japan on a false passport, and was arrested at Tokyo airport, apparently en route to Disneyland. Kim Jong Nam had been critical of Kim Jong Un, reportedly saying in 2012 that he “won’t last long” because of his youth and inexperience. The two brothers have different mothers, Bloomberg reports.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this story is true, the question arises; which government's people wanted him silenced?!?

Those of the North Korean government, who found out the guy was an informant for the US, or those of the US, because had, somehow, become a "live liability"?

LOCAL BAKERY WINS $11 MILLION AFTER OBERLIN COLLEGE STUDENTS LABELED IT 'RACIST'

But in the heady modern political climate, Oberlin is known less for helping ferry runaway slaves to freedom in Canada, and more for an activist community that has condemned cafeteria food offerings as racist (because they're not authentic), questioned the value of teaching the western canon and pushed the necessity of safe spaces. One black female professor provoked a controversy in 2016 after she was fired for making incendiary statements like blaming Israel for 9/11. Soon, the school's black student union was condemning the school as an "unethical institution" and demanding that the professor be given tenure.

But while these incidents may have tarnished the school's reputation, reinforcing its reputation as a bastion of over-privileged trust-funders, the college will now face a very real cost after losing a legal battle with a local bakery that has been a pillar of the downtown business community since it opened more than 100 years ago, according to the Washington Post.

Webmaster's Commentary:

PROSECUTORS CRACK DOWN ON CLERGY ABUSE AS BISHOPS GATHER

SOURCE: APNEWS.COM
DETROIT (AP) — Hundreds of boxes. Millions of records. From Michigan to New Mexico this month, attorneys general are sifting through files on clergy sex abuse, seized through search warrants and subpoenas at dozens of archdioceses.

They’re looking to prosecute, and not just priests. If the boxes lining the hallways of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s offices contain enough evidence, she said, she is considering using state racketeering laws usually reserved for organized crime. Prosecutors in Michigan are even volunteering on weekends to get through all the documents as quickly as possible.

For decades, leaders of the Roman Catholic Church were largely left to police their own. But now, as American bishops gather for a conference to confront the reignited sex-abuse crisis this week, they’re facing the most scrutiny ever from secular law enforcement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

THIS time, the Catholic Church needs to acknowledge that they have an institutional illness, called child abuse.

When you deny clerics their very sexuality, which was, BTW, NOT a tenant , or article of faith by the early church, but came after a series of scandals involving mistresses, etc., and put them into a position of power, particularly over impressionable kids, this crud... will, and does happen.

And to Pope Francis; your institution is just on the keening edge, of being sued out of existence.

So how do you solve it?!? Retract the oath of celibacy, and look for young men, with wives and kids, who will contribute to the whole of the church's future.

Because, sir, if you do NOT do this, and now, you are setting up the church for a fall from grace, and away from public good will, beyond what you can possibly imagine.

You are welcome, Your Holiness!!!

'CORRUPTION IN PLAIN SIGHT': JARED KUSHNER FIRM TOOK IN $90 MILLION FROM UNNAMED FOREIGN ENTITIES SINCE 2017

SOURCE: COMMON DREAMS
The latest scandal from the President Donald Trump administration involves secretive foreign investments in a company in which the president's son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner has a stake.

As The Guardian reported Monday, real estate speculation corporation Cadre, which was co-founded by Kushner, has received at least $90 million in overseas capital since 2017.

"Corruption in plain sight!" tweeted journalist Rula Jebreal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, these charges are true, they are simply a reflection of just how ugly things get at the top of the cesspool, where laws are only applied to the fiscally "little people", but not to the monied.

Holy crud, was the last "clean" family to inhabit the White House, that of Jimmy Carter?!? I am beginning to thing that the short answer to this question is, "HELL, YES!!"

The financial chicanery, and elaborate, devious withholding of financial facts from public scrutiny, an attitude apparently adopted by the Ubermench of both parties, almost makes Italy's the Borgias appear financially transparent!!

FACEBOOK HAS BANNED THE WORD "HONK" FOR VIOLATING THEIR COMMUNITY STANDARDS

SOURCE: ZEROHEDGE

Yes, that's right: just when you thought the censorship from social media outlets like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter had hit a fever pitch, its now being reported that Facebook is removing the word "honk" from its platform.

WOMAN FILMING SAVES UNARMED MAN'S LIFE AS COPS NEARLY KILL HIM FOR 'FITTING THE DESCRIPTION'

SOURCE: MATT AGORIST @ THE FREE THOUGHT PROJECT
(Support Free Thought) - Hawthorne, CA — Fitting the description, in the land of the free, is an all too common phrase used by public servants to justify the horrific abuse of innocent people. All too often, the abuse turns deadly, and these innocent people are killed or permanently injured. As the video below illustrates, filming these interactions and telling police they are on video can be the difference between life and death.

In Hawthorne, California on Friday, a woman who was filling her car up with gas decided to pull out her phone and film when she saw several officers holding an unarmed man at gunpoint.

The man, who says his name is William, was on his knees with his hands on his head as more officers continue to show up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, in this part of the 21st century, it is a very bad time to be a minority, in the Unhinged, Surveilled, State of Amerika; a couple may have one of them walking to a small convenience store, to pick up cookies, or a soda, and wind up accused of something they absolutely did not do and a situation escalates from there, with police itching to "shoot to kill", no matter if that person is innocent.

This woman, Skye, is my heroine for the day; but the rest of all of us, have to step up to the plate when we see a situation like this unfolding; and that, these days, takes nerves of steel, because you never know if, or when, the police are going to treat you, also, as "the enemy" for filming, even though this has been found to be "perfectly legal" by the courts.

THE OMNIPRESENT SURVEILLANCE STATE: ORWELL’S 1984 IS NO LONGER FICTION

SOURCE: ACTIVIST POST

1984 portrays a global society of total control in which people are not allowed to have thoughts that in any way disagree with the corporate state. There is no personal freedom, and advanced technology has become the driving force behind a surveillance-driven society. Snitches and cameras are everywhere. People are subject to the Thought Police, who deal with anyone guilty of thought crimes. The government, or “Party,” is headed by Big Brother who appears on posters everywhere with the words: “Big Brother is watching you.”

We have arrived, way ahead of schedule, into the dystopian future dreamed up by not only Orwell but also such fiction writers as Aldous Huxley, Margaret Atwood and Philip K. Dick.

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”?George Orwell

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why those of us, who see what is going on, and speak against the madness we see, must pick our fights very carefully; the "other side" is far better funded; far better equipped; and far better organised than we are.

Health Ranger blasts Facebook’s ban of Natural News, says American Left creating Soviet-style society where NO ONE can question “official” narratives

In a video response, Adams notes that in an instant, Facebook arbitrarily cut off Natural News’ channel and, thus, its direct pipeline to some 2.5 million followers who were not only avid consumers of the site’s information, but supporters of its alternative views on healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, and science.

“This is on top of the permanent bans of Natural News content from Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Google News, Apple and other techno-fascists that now represent the greatest threat to human freedom the world has ever seen,” Adams wrote in an accompanying column criticizing the decision.

He notes further:

The techno-fascists, including Wikipedia, have decided that no speech that questions any official narrative will be allowed on any platform. Anyone who questions the safety of toxic vaccines, 5G cell towers, geoengineering, chemotherapy or glyphosate weed killer chemicals is now maliciously attacked, smeared and de-platformed.
